Good grief. You busted the guy's balls for not paying immediately during a major holiday week?

I've had PayPal payments take over a week to clear.

Take a chill-pill and calm down a bit.

Also, you might want to review EBay policies regarding payment of auctioned items.

The buyer never paid! If he paid by eCheck, then yes, it could take a week for it to clear PayPal. In this case 10 days has passed and no payment. The only communication from the buyer is when TJR emails him.

Maybe we should give him a month to pay instead:huh:

TJR.... so the rest of us don't come across this guy... You wanna shine his name out so we know? haha, if not. it's cool.

TomT, the funny thing is that in this case, the guy was around for at least 4 days after the auction close and was communicating...kind of, just never as to exactly when I should expect payment. Just a fuzziness about sometime after he gets paid, which was 10 days after auction ended, and now was another 4 days ago.

I agree with the others TJR. I don't ever bid on something unless I can pay for it immediately. Of course lately I have been burned by that and had to fight to get my stuff from the seller. It's been awhile since I've bought from there because of it. Set the torch to him and relist or sell it to SST. E-Bay has gotten to big for its own good as of late. Best place on the web for scammers. Hope it all works out for you.;)

Stone, thanks for the input.

Looks like it is going to SST. He has the perfect use for it!

Anyway, I too have become disenchanted with eBay. I now only deal with powersellers with extremely high ratings 99.99 and no neg or neutral feedback of any kind for months and months back...or the little guy that is selling a random item or two and has good feedback.

It's the power sellers in the middle, those that clearly are auctioning off stuff they don't have, then doing drop-ship or placing orders then fulfilling them that I try to stay away from. I pay promptly I expect shipment promptly.

Many people make their living off eBay. It isn't eBays fault people are scammers on eBay. Many of the things people do to scam you, eBay has no control over. I do agree, eBay could do more in some instances, but other stuff is just hard.

All of the stuff we sell is straight out of our inventory. No drop shipping from our sales.

eBay is still a great place to buy from. Just remember though, some people you just can not make happy.

Theresa has got negative feedback because the buyer thought the item was bigger than it actually was. The kicker was that she gave them the exact dimensions of the item she was selling. Other times she has gotten negative feedback because they did not receive the item in a timely manner. The kicker was that they waited one week to send payment and was pissed off because we did not ship after the auction ended, but instead shipped after payment was received.

Caymen, sorry if I offended you. I by no means ment that ALL on E-Bay were scammers. I have no problem with the ones that sell stuff they have and once paid (like I said, I use PayPal right after I buy the item) send the item as soon as they can. The Last item I bought was from someone who uses (like TJR said) "drop shipping" or they had to order it. I had to wait for 1 month before I finally got the item. I only recieved 3 e-mails from them during that time. All saying that the item was shipped and to just wait another week and e-mail them if it didn't arrive. It kind-of soured me to the whole E-Bay experience. I still look there every once in a while, but haven't bought anything. I have no problem with people who sell on there and keep thier end of the bargain. When you have my money, ship my stuff.;)

Stone,

You did not offend me. There are many people that do exactly what you said about drop shipping. If you listed to radio commercials, they ever advertize how you can "Get rich selling on eBay and you never have to touch the items you sell". Like anything else, a few people get into it in its early stages and make good money. Then everyone jumps on the band wagon and before long, the market is saturated and sales go down the tube.

Fortunatly for us, the items we sell is hard to find and we have connections. Hopefully it keeps up.

Back on buyers. I sold something back in June, before I went on vacation. The item ended June 8th and I always have explicit instructions that I only use PayPal, no money orders, no personal checks, etc. I also said that I needed payment by the end of the day on Thursday so they can be shipped before I go out of town on Friday (the auctions ended on Saturday afternoon almost a full week before I needed payment). All but 1 guy paid the same day. I send him the e-mail with instructions and what not, and after I'm back in B'ham (where we're flying out of) he e-mails to :wacko:see if money order is okay. I tell him no, too many scams, PayPal only (like I said in big bold print in the auction) and he keeps insisting that his wallet was stolen the week before (before he won the auction, before he became the high bidder, so no excuses, he knew he wouldn't be able to use PayPal).

Seeing as how I'm a broke college student, I really wanted PayPal so I could have some extra money for the trip. He gives me some BS about how he's going to try and use a friend's PayPal account to pay me and to send an invoice to another e-mail. He comes back and says that it didn't work and he just wants to send a money order. I said fine, gave him instructions, only USPS money order, only USPS Priority insured w/ signature confirmation, etc (one of my roommates would have signed for it). I got back from the trip on the 25th of June and he still had not sent it. I contacted him again seeing what's up and he said he was sending payment on July 1st (a Sunday, so I knew he was lying). I contacted him again last Friday saying I'd not received payment yet, no response. I contacted him yesterday telling him I'll be leaving negative feedback and reporting him to eBay if I don't have payment by Monday (the 16th) which will be around 40 days since he won the auction. He says he sent payment on Monday (the 9th) and I should get it any day now.

We'll see. He's still getting negative feedback for his inability to follow instructions and his misleading e-mails. And who knows, it may take me 40 days to ship the item...
