Im a minority in my town. The only signs not in spanish, are street signs and signs on the front of the stores.

I dont mean for this to be a personal attack. But this is rediculus. I know the cost of this is being added to products, I purchase.

Funny this post is here today. Earlier today while at my office, I had said that it wont be too long before the average white male will be the minority. Another guy then said, "politically speaking, we are ALREADY the minority."



I found that to be a pretty interesting sentence...

But by posting multi-lingual signs, they are increasing their sales by appealing to more communities. And by increasing their sales, they are actually decreasing costs-per-unit.



In the US, there are VERY few manufactured goods which are required to be in multiple languages. Which means most of the multi-lingual packaging is being done by the manufacturers, on their own. And those companies do things to make a profit. In short, if doing things like multi-lingual packaging actually causes the consumer's price to go up, that would cost the company's profit to go down, and they wouldn't do it.

Bill V, The second part is most likly right. IMO, they dont pass it on. The first part of the qoute. No, they will sell the product anyway. It is all about PC and pandering.



With that said, it doesnt matter what you say. For about year now. If I say the sky is blue, you say red. If I say OK, I agree its red, You say no its blue. Im not the only one that has put up with it. I dont care if you agree with me. It is just a years worth of....(I dont know how to label it). So Ill shutup now...:huh:

Fast Eddie, by making the packaging multilingual, it not only increases sales in this country, but also makes the items sellable in other countries without having to develop separate packaging and separate inventory for each language individually. So even if you want to claim that it doesn't increase sales in the US (which is most definitely untrue), the total sales still go up because of the increased international sellability.

IMO, they dont pass it on.

I disagree with the "all", but I will agree that it is at least partly to do with PC and pandering. However, the PC and pandering are goal--they're just the means to the goal, which is increased sales and profit. It's driven by the money, not the ideology.
