About a week ago my engine light came on and P0193 was the code. Changed the fuel filter, cleared the code and ordered a new Pressure Sensor. So far the code has not reappeared, and I hope the fuel filter was the real cause. My new sensor did arrive but is currently sitting on my workbench. I will say that when the OEM filter was pulled I was somewhat amazed as to the grit and dirt that back flowed out of the filter. Maybe I spent $100 on a non-failed part...maybe not, but for now I'm keeping the new sensor on the workbench.

You have an intermittent issue with the sensor, very common. I don't like to be a naysayer but the fuel filter was not your issue. I bet if you would have cleared the code before you did the work you would be having the same results as you are now. Always a good idea to change the filter every so often though, surprising the junk they pick up.

I think so too, since I didn't see the filter being listed as one of the causes. At least I have the part and I'll be ready in case it comes up again, but for now I'm going to wait. Thanks.

I use 30K or two year interval on fuel filters, mainly from what I've seen at my fast lube accounts. The techs all tell me that the filters they change are loaded up with same stuff you saw in yours. Next time you're filling up at a convenience store ask the manager how often the pump filters get changed; he'll tell you he hasn't a clue. Modern FI motors need clean fuel to run properly. Let us know how this episode works out.
