Parking lot question. What would you do?

Cell phones with picture taking capabilities can help too if you do not have a disposable. Take a picture of the scene, the license plate of the offending party, close up of paint on their door, close up of paint that is no longer on your door (i.e. the ding, scratch, dent), close up of offending party as they approach you, close up of their insurance card & license (just hope they are not an 'illegal'), and hopefully a wide shot of you with the 'big check' (think Happy Gilmore) that they pay you to not report it to their insurance.

Keep a sledge hammer in the ST

:D

LOL. I must confess I keep a window punch (fire rescue tool) in my ST just in case someone really pisses me off. I have never used it but if someone really screws with me they will loose a side window or two. If you've never seen one it is the size of a pen with a spring loaded punch that completely obliterates any car window (except the front one of course).

(Actually I carry the punch around in case I see an infant or animal left in a hot vehicle with no ventilation. You would be suprised how many stupid people do that here in the Houston area. I would probably never actually use it in anger.)

Good idea Travis, I'm still liking ChrisV's sledge hammer idea though. I also have a neat-o cordless sawzall. LOL

Maybe that is why the part on my step bars are peeling off. They open the door and boom right into the step bar instead of the side of the vehicle since my ST sits almost 5" higher than stock.

I would call the Police, confront them and tell them they dented the car and you are going to file a Police report for the accident. I like the window punch idea too. I have one of those in my ST.

Sledge hammer is tough to explain to the police if you get pulled for something else. Baseball bats you can always have an excuse...keep a batting glove with it and you are always "on my way to the cages" or "I was hitting some balls earlier" - it helps if you also 'mod' your vehicle properly for the total sell. See my earlier 'project'.

this is my friend it causes more damage. i am not a violent person but they will get it back 100 fold.

Not in defense of the dirty bastard, but were you parked sideways or taking up two spaces, etc.?

People who take two spaces are who park sideways really tick me off.

Nope. I even always make sure to park as squarely in the middle of a slot. Two spacers tick me off too. I just ass-u-med that if I parked far far away, I'd be safe. Guess not.

Not sure if it's worth risking a confrontation with a stranger that might be armed. A door ding ain't worth getting shot over.

Reading through the OP's scenario, it would appear the person in the other car is wanting a confrontation... I mean why else would they park next to your car and ding it?

I guess most folks in Okla are too damned lazy to walk into Wal-Mart from more than a few aisles away. I can park out in the boonies and noone has ever parked next to me.

When I was in my teens, I witnessed a lady back into my car while she was parallel parking. I looked at my bumper and found no damage; waited for her to get out of her car and told her to be more careful while parking because she had hit my car. Her cavalier response was "So?" Not apologetic what-so-ever.

I didn't want to cause any damage to her car but I did wait until she went into the store and popped off her hubcap and put in a couple of small rocks.

I hope she was inconvenienced by the noise (maybe taking it to a shop or the dealer or something).

You all get ticked when someone takes up 2 spaces? I usually use 6 if I'm at Walmart. I park in the furthest possible spot, down the front line of 3 spaces, so 3 on each side of the vehicle, and I have never come back out and found someone parked next to me when I do that.

I keep a valve stem needle valve removal tool on my key chain just for people like that. I don't do just one either I make sure they have to call someone to come out and air up at least two of them.

Plastic wire tie around the driveshaft, dont cut off the excess. It will drive them crazy - only makes tap-tap-tap noise when they are moving, gets louder as they drive faster. Mean, but ultimately harmless.
