I purchased a new set of 255/70R16 Pirelli Scorpion ATR for my 2004 Trac. Replaced a set Wranglers that I put 65k miles on.

One thing I noticed, is my gas mileage has dropped a bit. I am guessing, it is the new tires, and I probably need to adjust the pressure. Currently I am running 34-35 lbs. in each tire.

Anyone have a set of these tires? What pressure do run them at?

Thanks,

Michal.

At 34-35 psi any more air is only going to make the tire balloon or make it harder. After a certain psi more air doesn't necessarily cut down on rolling resistance.

I have the ATR in a LT 31x10.5. I run them at 35 cold front and 37 cold back. Done so the last 15k miles since I got the tires last summer. They don't even look like they've worn at all.

Ps. the tires are extremely heavy tires so that could be affecting your gas mileage. I went from 255/70/15 to 31x10.5x15 and it was a 8lb difference per tire.

According to Tirerack.com:

Goodyear RT/S 255/70/16 = 35lbs

Pirelli ATR 255/70/16 = 40lbs
