The Trac overheated on me really bad last night.. I shut it down and let it cool off. Checked, and no Coolant (it had coolant two days ago). I refilled and let it set. I started it up, drove around the block, and the temp rose again. I noticed some fluid under the truck but couldn't trace it. Trac was even steaming a little (seemed to be coming from right under the TB cover). I check again this morning and no coolant. I'm not even gonna start it up again until I can figure out where to start looking for the issue. Can someone give me some advice? Could it be the water pump? Thanks in advance for any help!

I had a hole in my upper rad hose, and didn't notice the leak because of the black mesh covering on the hose. I took that off and saw a tiny pin hole that was spraying. Might be a good start for you.

any white smoke? if its leaking out to the point its dry and nothing much is on the ground or visible, i'd guess head gasket...

There was a little smoke coming from it when it over heated, seemed to be coming from under the TB cover.. The fluid on the ground is a fair amount.. Pretty worried. Hope it's something simple like a cracked hose. It ran at a good temp till the fluid leaked out. Fluid went quick, maybe 15 minutes. I've got right at 135,000 on it..

check the Top radiator hose or the thermostat. (i say thermostat because you said it is somewhere under the throttlebody and thats where it is.)

Good Luck Griff...

Thanks for all the help guys. Everybody I talk to seems to believe it's a hose.. Gonna try to do a visual inspection, then a pressure test. At least I've got a starting point.

Most likely the t-stat housing has sprung a leak. It's a common failure with the 4.0 SOHC. Some models have the entire housing with t-stat serviced as an assembly. Others have to be assembled.

You also have a coolant hose hooked to a plastic loop around the pcv vavle. Rear of driver side valve cover.
