Hi all, it's been a while since I've posted here. But I really need your help. I'm installing a Pioneer xm2go in the tray at the front of my tracs consel. Ive drilled a 1/4" hole under the rubber guard and I'm ready to splice into the power of my stock radio with a 14-18 gauge quick connector but I need to know what color the positive and negitive of my radios head unit are. I see about 20 wires in 2 harnesses but don't have a clue which ones feed the radio. I want the xm to come on and go off with the ignition so I thought splicing the radios power would be the most direct route. Thanks again in advance, Michael.

Did a quick search and came up with this..

your best bet would to use a volt meter or a light meter to see which wires are hot with the ignition turned on.

In a 2003 explorer I just installed sirius in, the pink with black stripes was the 12v ignition power and the black with white stripes was the ground. All years are different so I cant say that is true for what u are working on.

Just did the exact same thing with my new '05 ST. Used the cigarette lighter plug and socket that came with the unit. That way I still have the 2 amp fuse protection. Ran it under the dash past the steering column. Grounded it on the large bolt that fits in the door frame (there's 2 of them there and they look like they hold in the dash.) Hooked the positive to the wire coming off the fuse block for #36 fuse. It's unused, but the line is hot when the ignition is on. The XM turns on/off with the ignition, but there is about a 2-3 second lag to turn on. Been working good for 3 weeks and I don't get any feedback through the speakers. :D

Just got through with the install.... And by the way thanks for all of the input. I spliced the ground of the lighter on the side of the console and I'm getting a good deal of feedback in the back speakers only. Afwill I'll try your method monday. Thanks again, Michael

I'd like to do that too but as far as I can tell both wires on the XM's lighter plug are black and I can't tell which one is hot and which is ground.

My xm2go didn't come with the female lighter plug adapter but my wifes audiovox did... so I kind of borrowed it for my application. the female plug adaptor has bare wires one lables positive the other negitive -

JohnnyO, if you open the plug up, probably a few little screws, , the wire that is hot is the one that runs to the fuse in the center of the plug.....the ground will run off to the side of the inside of the plug somewhere.

if i understand what you are talking about correctly, lol If not, disreguard me, lol:lol:
