I though if you blurred your eyes you became a DEMOCRAT
.

Funniest thing I have read since 10 minutes ago...

I had nothing on me to suggest that I was either. No bumper stickers, no political pins...nothing. They just assumed I was the opposite of them (I was). They were using it as a "no Iraq war" platform. The ballots covered things like county charter review positions, stadium referendum, and a school board position.

But I thought it was just George Bush who was out to suppress the vote?

I did see/hear many jokes about Clinton while he was in office. I disagreed with some as they were conterproductive to society as well.

Not only was Mr Clinton not bashed in Newsweek, but CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, St Louis Post-Dispatch, Time, you pick. Nearly all of these same groups have heavily bashed Mr. Bush at any opportunity.

Love him or hate him, the president is a representative of the country and therefore the people of the country. While I did vote for Mr Clinton, I dislike him personally. I do respect him for being a former president, even if he was a highly disgraced president. I cannot say that all conservatives offer the respect that I do, but it sure seems that the conservatives I know do offer respect in the same manner. I cannot say that about my liberal friends/family. They offer no respect for Mr. Bush in any way. Reciprocation is an ugly thing and I sure hope that the conservatives in Congress realize this.

Shek,

The President deserves respect. With that I agree 100%. It doesn't mean you have to like him or agree with him, but there should be respect.

Having said that i have to add that poking fun at a sitting (and ex) President is a long held US tradition. I don't ever see that ending.

And I know several people that identify themselves as liberal that don't disrespect President Bush. (They don't like him or his politics, but don't disrespect him as President.) I also know a lot of people that identify themselves as conservative than never showed any respect to Pres. Clinton. Personally, I don't think any generalizations can be made as to how a person will or won't respect the President based on a person's political beliefs

And no one in Congress has ever realized anything worthwhile that didn't directly affect their chances at re-election. (Or was that disrespectful?:D )
