I'm a bit surprised there weren't other posts on this: Pontiac (the brand name) officially closed down yesterday.

Of course, Pontiac (the city) unofficially closed years ago...

It's funny I'm from MI originally and my buddy just posted this to his facebook page yesterday.

"Without fail Pontiac always surprises me at how grodey a city can become"

Just seemed pretty coincidental.

My bride has a '98 Grand Prix. It has been a good car and has 110K miles on it right now. She wanted to get a G8 till Pontiac was discontinued.

Friends have circa 2000 grand prix's which have been fairly good cars.

Neighbors had (have) Grand Ams, which suck.

Sadly, my sister has a 2001 Sunfire, and it is a sad sorry POS.

My Son's 95 Grand Am GT (3100 V6) had over 200K on it when he sold it. Was still running good... I am a Ford guy, but Pontiac is not that bad in my experiences, nor were the Buick or Chevy vehicles we have owned over the years.

On the other hand the one Dodge we have owned was not so good...

Its all a matter of opinion...

Vroom, vroom.

Bought a 1998 PONTIAC Grand Prix GT. One of the best cars I ever owned.

Have owned:

2002 Grand Prix GT :supercool:

1985 Pariesiene

1996 Sunfire :supercool:

1987 Trans Am GTA :supercool:

1977 Trans Am T/A 6.6 (first sports car) :supercool::supercool:

Overall Pontiac has done well for me.

what i thought was unusual is according to news reports, any brand new pontiac sitting at a dealership now has to be sold as used.

btw, i like my pontiac

i wouldn't mind a 2002 trans am

My Dad owned MANY Pontiacs - One I remember specifically - a Bonneville station wagon. 455i!!! That thing was a BEAST. Don't remember the year - had to be in the early 70's.
