I really like the Solstice, but am crazy about the looks of the Saturn Sky. I like the sharp lines on the Sky over the rounded design of the Solstice.

Of course, if I came across a good deal of either one, I think I would pull the trigger and get one.

btw, i like my pontiac

It is really unfortunate that GM built it. I always liked the look of the Fiero, especially the latter years, but GM did not do the car justice.

My first vehicle was a 67 Leman's convertible. It was a beautiful car. Like an idiot I traded it for a VW bus.

what i thought was unusual is according to news reports, any brand new pontiac sitting at a dealership now has to be sold as used.

How can that be? If the car's never been titled, then legally, it's still a new car, right?

JohnnyO - My 1st car was a '68 Firebird too! I bought it with a bad engine, so I dropped a 327 chevy engine we had laying around with a 2 speed powerglide transmission. That car climbed Mt Washington!

I have owned many Firebirds and a GrandAm that were good cars. My favorite car was a red '73 Trans Am with a 455 and black interior. Man, that was sweet! Wish I knew how to drive better at the time 'cause I smacked it into the side of a bridge.

Since the dealers lose their license to sell Pontiacs, the vehicles are used because the dealer owners become owners of the vehicles.

Gary,

Don't think I do not like the Fiero. I actually like those cars, but GM did not bring the car up to what it should have been. They killed it too soon and did not give it the power it should have had. On top of that, it was given the infamous GM quality.

But this is only my thoughts on the Fiero.

I wish GM took it to the next level.

"I wish GM took it to the next level."

1n 88 that was the next level for them. agree the quality is not where it should be, but that was good enough then.

as far as power, sure there is alot that could have been done, but again in 88 it was well above average in performance.

apprec your opinions and that this hasn't turned into a piss fest :haveabeer:

I always liked Pontiacs. My first was a brand new 1965 GTO. I had it for 6 years and wish I still had it.. I hated the new (Australian) GTOs they built for 3 years starting in 2004. GM claimed it was not intended to be a late 1960's throw-back like the Mustang, but nothing about the car resembled anthing on any "GTO" and the body style looked like it was made by Kia or Hyundai. It had great performance but Americans wanted an American muscle car with some styling ques that resembled the early GTO's

I also had a new 1997 Grand Prix. I looked good and road good. It also had some of the best brakes I experienced on a stock American vehicle. I did have a lot of problems with the power windows on all the windows. I owned the car for 3 years and every window motor, and door switch in all 4 doors was replaced at least twice, some were repaired 3-4 times. I could hardly go 2-3 months with taking it into the shop to have one of the power windows fixed.

That was the only problem I had with the car but I did not want to keep it much longer than the warranty because I knew the power windows were going to give me problems as long as I owned the car. In 2000 I traded it in on my new 2001 Sport Trac shortly after the warranty expired and it had 42K miles on it.

Definitely agree that the Fiero was killed too soon by GM.

Though the Fiero was an 80s car, and I don't remember the poor quality of GM kicking in until the late 90s. Even my 1992 Buick LeSabre was solidly built. The only issue was the paint, but even Ford had paint issues, as my 1991 Ford Taurus had the same paint issues...and was a POS, I hate to say.

I had a 1988 Nissan Stanza, which IIRC was after Datsun had to rebrand themselves as Nissan due to horrendous quality, and that car was a piece of junk. Honestly, it can't be truly described without profanity. The only vehicle I've ever owned where turning off the AC would boost speed by 5-10 mph, and was necessary for even puny East Maryland hills.

I'm amazed that slot cars are still around. Though every time I've used a slot car, the sorry thing flew off the track :(
