To view certain things on a certain website, I got a message saying that I need to download something from java.com (see linky)

I'm not a PC whiz, so could anyone tell me in dufus terms, what this is or at least if you know that it's OK to download?

Thanks,

Dufus :D

Java runtime allows you to run the Java-based websites. Usually, it is OK to download this, but the new Java install automatically updates itself.

Good idea to check because not all of these types of downloads are legit.

Thanks eledhel.

I was trying to show my wife 'moving pictures/360° views' on a resort website. I can view them fine here at work, but at home I could only see the still pictures.

My PC at home must not have that java runtime that it needs. I think I'll download it this evening.

Microsoft and Java had a falling out a few years ago and there for a while Java was not loaded on Windows. If your running an older version of XP then you will have to go to the Java site and download it. Won't hurt your machine at all.

Thanks TomT. I do have XP, not sure what version, but I will download java now.
