Question about step sides

Evening all.. I have an 02 ST with about 62k on it. The body of the ST is still in mint condition.. however the step sides are really starting to rust.



I heard a rumor that Ford covers rust to 100k.. is that true and if so does it hold true on the step sides as well??



Any help is appricated.

Not for certain, I think they cover main body panel rust only..for 6yrs...
