I have some AVI files that I need to convert to a format that is playable on any DVD player.

Anyone have any recommendations on programs that can do that?

Free would be nice but I am not completely objecting to spending a little money. I did a quick google search but came back with many choices which I am sure some of suck.

Do you have Nero? Nero Vision Express will convert it and burn it to a dvd.

If you need to purchase a program try ConvertXtoDVD. It will handle the conversion and burning. I like this program because if your files are to big to fit on a normal DVD, it will automatically shrink to fit.

There is a software called WINAVI or AVIWIN... Can't remember. But this did everything... It was a great program. Quality was good and it also brough over the 5.1 audio stuff also... When used with DVDShrink it worked great. You could make sure the quality was Set to high in the AVI convert and than DVDshrink would make sure it fits.

Cheers
