I was wanted to get my tranny flare problem fixed and i went to a few shops and they are trying to tell me i need a new tranny because it slipping..I told them its not slipping it needs a new EPC solenoid and valve body gasket..But they still keep telling me there slippage...

Now, If my tranny was slipping regardless of which gear wouldn't it give me a flasing overdrive light?

If the slippage was bad enough to be noticed by the computer then the CEL would light.

Try a regular mechanic if you have one and not a tranny shop. They may be more inclined to do this type of work for you...

Also before you go replacing parts for a simple 2-3 flair ( If thats the only issue) Look in the projects section and service the pan and filter and adjust the EPC first... That will help the situation..

Todd is correct. If you have not gotten the bliniking O/D light, the slippage has not been bad enough to cause excessive wear to the clutches and bands. However some transmission repair shops may opt to replace the clutches and bands just to insure the problem has been fixed and insure they can maximize their profits.

You might want to check with your Ford dealer. They will probably replace the solenoid pack and valvebody for about $450.
