There are two stock sizes, and you can always get one custom wound.

Yes, a customer of mine just installed a 220 or something like that in their ST or mustang....... But since you have a 2001 the mustang one will not work, BUT the do sell them for the explorer..

One of the TSB's for the Trac is a squealing alternator.
The fix, via Ford, was that they install an alternator from the same year Explorer. They are a higher amperage than the OEM Trac alternator.
This is the same thing they do with the power steering pumps as well when it comes to cold weather environment.

I want to say 140 amp is what I have but I can't remember if that is the larger one or not.
