I have a radiator that has developed a small, barely noticable leak. In fact, the florencent green coolant is almost dry when I check the top of the radiator which is where the leak is occurring. As a precaution I went ahead and changed the radiator cap. My question is, has anyone used a radiator "stop leak" and do they recommend a brand like Bar's Leak, etc? By the way the radiator is 2 yrs old non plastic type.

If it is a small leak, maybe a radiotor shop could fix it rather than using stop leak. I feel like stop leak could plug up other parts of the cooling system. I could be wrong though.

These radiators are not repairable. Small leak in the cooling core, can be stoped with alumna-seal. It looks like powdered aluminum. Will not hurt anything. Aftermarket radiator is less than $200.

Thought they were all plastic..

Bill, only the tanks.. the core is aluminum.

I disagree about the Bars. If it is still the old stuff. The pelets do not completely disolve and along with the oil, in the bars, it turns to sludge. I have used the alumna-seal for 40yrs. Never had any problems.

I have had good luck with epoxy on the plastic tanks but a new one is always the best. Not that hard to change, makes you feel that you accomplished something and affords an opportunity to clean where you have never cleaned before.

Change it!! Ed
