After heeding the majority's opinion here last year regarding radiator caps, I kept the OE 20 lb cap instead of using a 16 lb unit I had bought. Today we had the sweet sweet smell of antifreeze and what appears to be a leak from the upper tank. Will drop it off at the dealer tomorrow. It should be covered on the extended warranty. And when I get it back, a 16 lb cap is going on.

So, do you use a FORD radiator cap or aftermarket. If so, does STANT make on for the '07 V-8?

Stant will MAKE one for an '07 V8 but it will be a 20 lb if that's what you tell them it's for. I found that my son's 2000 Mustang V6 uses the same size radiator cap as my Sport Trac but it is rated at 16 lb. When I put the 20 lb unit back on my Trac I just put the new 16 pounder on his car. As I recall it was a Stant cap I got at Auto Zone or NAPA.

Less psi might make the plastic radiator tank less likely to crack. It is a common problem. On the other hand, more psi raises the boiling point of the coolant.

Dealer said if the new radiator comes today (Saturday) there is a slight chance I'll have it back today, otherwise be Monday. Normally I don't buy extended warranties on stuff but in this case I'm glad I did. It's already saved me about half of what I paid for it and I've got 30,000 miles left to go. :supercool:
