They deserve to fail. I went there last year to buy a regulated 12 volt power supply. The clerk showed me a cell phone charger.

Went there a couple of years ago to buy a pack of resistors. The clerk came back with a package of 500 resistors. No. I wanted a 5-pack of 1/2 watt resistors for 39 cents.

Radio Shack neglected their base and tried to become a cell phone store. What happened to all of the stereo equipment and transistors and antenna coax?

Yeah, I used to enjoy Radio Shack....not too much anymore. Maybe they will turn it around.

Don't hold your breath.

With the internet, "The Shack" lost the niche they had a long time ago. :btddhorse:

I left without what I was looking for the last few times and just got sales pitches for unrelated items. Doubt I'll ever be back.

Their downfall started when the electronics components were shoved into a drawer in the back corner.

I went there for an optical cable. The clerk tried to sell me on the fact that the ends were gold plated. Ummm.... it's an OPTICAL cable. The gold plating means nothing.

Mark K,

I agree with you 100% There once was a time where Radio Shack was a major stop while shoping for electronics. Now they have really turned their back on their customer base and have been in a free-fall for several years now.

The last time I went into a Radio Shack store was probably close to a year ago, and of course, they did not have what I wanted, and I walked out with nothing. I don't remember what it was, but I think I probably ordered it from Amazon.com and it was cheaper and shipping was free with Prime.

I remember the best run to a Radio Shack back in the early 70's. I had a friend that worked at a RS close to where I worked. I went in after work and he and I were the only ones in the store. He put a new album on the turntable, ran it through the best amp and best speakers they had. It was Pink Floyd "One of these days" from the "Meddle" album that he played. One song, one whole side of the album and it was great. The beginning for another Pink Floyd fan. A great moment in the Radio Shack in the past IMO. Nothing lasts forever...
