I am looking at getting both of these items but have concerned that it may not be legal to install the CAT in California. Does anyone know if you will still pass SMOG. I am driving a company truck and do not want to do any mods that I would have to pay to have them removed if there were issues.



Is there a group buy on these in the future?



Should I take the truck in the shop to have them installed or are these quick and easy to remove the old and bolt on the new?

Hey I'm not sure what Kali's law is for the cat stuff. I'm pretty sure the law for most of the states for the CAT thing, is basically. If the vehicle has over 50,000 miles or the CAT's are rusted and need replaced. For the group buy, you missed out on it. It happened couple months ago. But the parts are still available with Zabteck. I had a shop install my RT CAT and Y-PIPE with a new Magna-Flow exhaust and it was all bolted on. They had only charged me $200 for the removal of the stock stuff and installation of the new stuff.
 
to be honest with you i think you would have a harder time passing smog with the y pipe than the hi-flow cat. when you do the y pipe you remove 2 little cats and when you do the hi-flow cat you only remove 1 small cat

As a dealer for random tech I have to tell you:



None of the random tech stuff carrys the Carb cert for california.....



You can install it if using the truck off road....



I know some places do different inspections, In NY it is private places that do inspections so they each look at things differently..



I left space between the lines on purpose.... ;)

Do you have plans on putting the installation FAQ for Random Tech parts on your site? If I decide to move forward I need to know how difficult it would be to swap it out on my own if I ever need to get it tested.

Actually not. I used to pay people to writ projects, OR give them discounts for projects, but it seems to be more of a headach then it is worth.



I have No st's I can install them on either for me to even write installation instructions..



Most shops will charge you 100-200 to install the parts.



IF you not comfortable with dealing with snapped bolts, or rusted exhaust stuff, I highly recommend having an exhaust shop install..
