I took some pictures of the St while being fitted with new Bridgestone 694 AT. It was an amazement to the guys what the RAS was :D

Roadmaster Active Suspension.

It helps with handling, hauling loads, and towing. I have it on my ST along with the EE sway bar and Rancho RSX shocks.

I would recommend it as well. It made a great improvement to the way my ST handled and towed.

I used the project liked above to install my RAS kit, and it was very easy.

lol, so much for the bolded "never use your differential as a jacking point" line in the manual ;)

RAS intrigues me, once I get the cash for the sway bars, I'll be looking at that next. After seeing how much the handling improved after just 2 hours of time to install 4 shocks, if the trend continues I really won't recognize my trac's handling with these next 2 upgrades :D

Tire shops dont care. I have to show them everytime, how to jack up our escape. You cant jack just anywhere on the escape our you will break or bend something..

Looks like they just make them for up to the 2005 at this time. About $300. Just wonderin what the 3/8 in stainless steel cable is for?

Jaded,

They only work with Gen 1 ST's because they're made to mount on leaf springs. The Gen 2 ST has an independent rear suspension with coil springs.

The steel cable is what holds the spare tire in place.

Kevin L asked.

How do you jack up the escape?

For the rear, there is a nob on the trailing arm at each wheel only. Not the center section where the AWD diferential would mount. We have FWD.

For the front depends on the year. Our '01 was the lower control arm. For our '08 it is the mounting bolt for the for the lower control arm rear bushing. The jack has to have a hole for the bolt. So the jack touches the frame not the bolt. Basicly the shop needs to take the head off the floor jack...pain in the butt. The frame under the motor and trans will bend under the weight if lifted there.

i'd recommend the RAS. Sometimes i carry maximum 700kilos of stone on the truck.

one major thing i notice on the RAS, it lessend the "play" of the entire body when i go tru potholes :)

I also put in some nitrogen for the tires. first time. i dont know how it works.

Ditto on the recommendation for the RAS ... put them on last year when I did the TT/SL .... had about 800 pounds of cement mix/bags in the bed over the weekend & the rear sagged minimally.
