RATTLE

I have a rattle sound from under my trac. Sounds like a exhaust rattle, but when under neath cant seem to pinpoint sound. It only does it at startup, and lasts for a few minutes, until Trac warms up. Is this a common problem? I've been told about a cat rattle thats internal inside the cat. But when i listen for sound it seems to be coming from the back of engine, maybe inside the bellhousing. Could there be something inside there that could cause rattle? LikeI said, it only does it at startup and stops when warmed up. Any help will be appreciated.

Is your ST an automatic or manual.I am not familiar with the sound but maybe someone can chime in and help._Ron

Perhaps it is the timing chain rattle. There is a TSB on this.

Sport Trac is automatic. Rattle is undercab near exhaust. Cat converters dont seem to have anything loose. Which Converter is usually the problem? What is the fix, other than replacing converter?Thanks
