Rear wheel bearing recommendations

I have an 08 with a rear wheel bearing that's dead. I've been seeing a lot of videos of people just buying a preloaded knuckle so they don't have to deal with trying to pop out the hub. Has anyone had any luck with buying these on line from something like rockauto, or amazon. I'm trying to keep the price down but I don't feel like doing this twice.

I use MOOG for mine as I have a press.... so great cost savings...... Have not heard good or bad about the pre loaded ones..... I would only suggest re checking the axle bolt torque and wheel lugs after a few hundred miles.... If they loosen ( Or wasn't pressed right and you compress with axle) the bearing will fail quickly.... you can actually leave off the center cap and the socket fits....lol.... nice and easy to check then.

Yes I have been looking at the preloaded also. One shop tried to replace one rear bearing, broke the knuckle and ended up putting on a “new” old loaded knuckle from a wrecker.

I just did mine on my 09. I went with 1AAuto's loaded knuckles as they seemed to relatively well respected and were one of the cheaper options at the time. . Can't speak to longevity yet but they looked like decent quality and made for an easy job. Also changed the links while I had everything apart.

Sounds like I'm going to be a guinea pig LOL. If worst comes to worst It'll be a lot easier to pop out the bearing with the new knuckle.

I buy as many parts as I can from 1AAUTO.COM. it's here the day after I order. Never had any part fail on me

We couldn't get ours off with the 2 ton press.........Had to use the 4 ton!!

They also have quite a few videos of Sport Trac/Explorer repairs, which are very good. Sometimes the prices are a bit higher than rockauto, but if I watch the video then I'll usually buy from 1aAuto..

I ended up getting the Ultra-Power knuckle assembly from Rockauto for $180. Everything fit together really nicely let's see how long it lasts LOL.
