Can someone fill me in on how to remove the head unit on the 2007 sport trac....i don't see the holes in the face of the unit like in past models for the ford tool?

Thanks!!

Remove the two screws at the front of the console

Remove the chrome shifter bezel.

Remove the front piece of the console (with the cupholders.)

Remove the radio bezel.

Remove the 4 screws holding the radio in.

Done.

Just to add to Dingo's post. The 2 screws are under the arm rest. The chrome shift bezel just pops up, but be careful not to break it.

Also, if you look up Pat Freeman's profile, he has a link in his profile with pictures of the radio removal.

Thanks Guys...got the radio out. Have a question....in my factory stereo...there are 2 plugs in the back...the Big one...and a smaller plug.....What is the smaller plug for???? Doubt my new system will have the smaller plug????

Can anyone help me with my 01 stereo? I popped it out no problem a couple of nights ago, now it won't budge. I am using the u-shaped wire tools. Anybuddy have any idea why?

TAC,

Maybe you bent the tabs ???

Temperature change ??

Did you paint it glue any thing ???

Sometimes the tabs on the side can be really hard to push in with the DIN tools. I've worked on several Fords over the years that I wasn't able to remove the radio using them. Remove the two 7mm bolts above the climate controls, then pop the radio bezel out. The radio will come out with the bezel and you can push in on the tabs with your fingers and slide the radio out.

So if the stock stereo has the plug in it for the sub and amp does this mean that you could just add the wiring and the amp/sub assembly and have it all work???

l1tech, yes you can purchase the adapters from Crutchfield that plug into the factory wiring and allow your after market radio to utilize the factory sub/amp setup. That's what I did with my Pioneer AVIC-Z1.

These are the part numbers you need to order from Crutchfield for the 07/08 ST:

part# 120705521 Ford Receiver Wire Harness $19.99

part# 120995807 In Dash Receiver Kit $14.99

part# 12040CR10 Antenna Adaptor $12.99

I think I was misunderstood, I have the factory stereo w/mp3 and sat as was wondering if this plug was on the back of my stock stereo if all I had to do was get the factory harness adn sub/amp setup, install it and have it all work. I wonder if I would have to configure the stereo with IDS????
