whats the pros and cons of doing this?

ive read your engines produce a much louder roar where your able to

notice a big difference.

but ive also read that dirt and other debris, maybe even water, is easier

to find its way into your filter box.

Arturo,

When I removed the AIS I noticed that my truck seemed to "fart" when I turned the engine off. This was just a small rush of air making its way back out the intake, but sounded kind of funny. I did notice a nicer sounding engine and a very very miniscule increase in performance. All in all, my truck farting was not enough for me to decide to put the silencer back on. I kept it and eventually upgraded to the Zabtech Full Under Hood Kit

Removed the silencer and shield, as my second project. (After K & N Stock Air Filter)

Shaun t is correct, miniscule performance gain with added "sound effects".

I also get the "thump" when turning the engine off. Sounds healthy though. (Accelerating)

I took mine off and added the Airaid intake, I also get the thump or fart when turning it off, though I never really notice it at all, just that they mentioned it made me realize I have it as well. I like that its a little louder and it did give me a bit more pep. When I did my intake and exhaust I got 2-3 mpg gain and a bit better throttle response. I live in DUSTY Arizona and I just make sure to clean my air filter when it gets dirty, doesn't seem to get too much stuff in the air box though.
