May end up having to remove the OEM tonneau cover to do some hauling. I know I need to unlock both sides and slide the pins, but I vaguely remember reading a post about a member here losing a rubber grommet (or some other small piece) that must have fallen off during removal. Is there something I need to look for or watch out for when removing it?

Thanks Gang!

I never had any issues removing mine.

However, use of a couple of small blocks under one side will keep it from locking down when you lay the other side on it before you lift it off

Yes, there are 2 rubber pieces that are at the center seam but attached to the longer cover side...

They don't just fall off, but if you drop the cover or catch the rubber on something they will tear off...

Best to have some one help you..

Open both sides to the middle standing straight up...

Release the slides and push the slid all the way back and twist it, there is a lock that will hold it open...

Then lift off...

Put it back on the reverse order....

IF doing it your self...

Fold the cover from the cab to the tailgate...

Remove the slides and lock in place..

Lift the top a little to unlock the bottom...

Then lift from under neath and it will come right off...
