The political based firing of "good" attorneys mid-term is unprecedented.
The fact alone that Congress is questioning the motives should be proof enough that something isn't kosher.
In addition to Gonzales, seven other high-ranking Department of Justice members have resigned from office. These include the Deputy Attorney General, Acting Associate Attorney General, Chief of Staff for the Attorney General, Chief of Staff for the Deputy Attorney General, Director of the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, theappointed Director to the EOUSA, and the DOJ's White House Liaison. That is a fair amount of the senior staff of the Department of Justice.
Something is terribly, terribly wrong surrounding the Attorney General's office.
Even if one were to be "OK" with the dismissal of attorneys, certainly one wouldln't be "OK" with the Attorney General and his actions in front of Congress. Stammering around questions, refusing to answer, and providing contradictory statements under oath. More should be expected from the head of the Department of Justice.
