The political based firing of "good" attorneys mid-term is unprecedented.

The fact alone that Congress is questioning the motives should be proof enough that something isn't kosher.

In addition to Gonzales, seven other high-ranking Department of Justice members have resigned from office. These include the Deputy Attorney General, Acting Associate Attorney General, Chief of Staff for the Attorney General, Chief of Staff for the Deputy Attorney General, Director of the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, theappointed Director to the EOUSA, and the DOJ's White House Liaison. That is a fair amount of the senior staff of the Department of Justice.

Something is terribly, terribly wrong surrounding the Attorney General's office.

Even if one were to be "OK" with the dismissal of attorneys, certainly one wouldln't be "OK" with the Attorney General and his actions in front of Congress. Stammering around questions, refusing to answer, and providing contradictory statements under oath. More should be expected from the head of the Department of Justice.

Watched him being questioned re the hospital visit- felt he was either the dumbest person ever to be AG or an absolute liar, or both. He 's a disgrace.

Well, he was appointed by Dubya. Aparently Gonzales was the only other guy dumber than he was, that is why he got the job.

Tiger, please tell me that was a joke. I laughed out loud when I read this. Yes, Congress never participates in a witch hunt. Surely everyone railing on W had only the best interests of the country in mind, had nothing to do with what party he is in. And Clinton's impeachment was only because of concern over the law, and it had nothing to do with dragging him through a sex scandal for political gain. Please. It seems to me that Congress is nothing but a witch hunt, again, on both sides.

Rocks

Oh, and I suppose the highest ranking official of the Department of Justice "forgetting" information, and lying under oath isn't laughable?

That's perfectly alright, since Congress is simply out to hang an innocent man.

I've disagreed with the turd since he took over for Ashcroft. He is BIG TIME anti-2nd amendment (on that issue, I would agree that he saw that Constitution as a (in my best Pirates of the Caribean impression) "more of a guide line really").

I wrote the president when he was nominated (as well as when Harriott Meyers was nominated for the SC) saying 'Please Dear God Don't!'...

I'm glad he's been deep-6ed (on his own or otherwise, don't care). He should have been removed 2 years ago and maybe the Rep's wouldn't have lost the control that they still don;t realize they had.

But this is a Demonrat and Media blitz about the firings. I am in a state that lost one of their district attourney's in these same firings. Don't really care about that. Just glad Gonzo is out of the White House.
