I always felt they were too goofey to be a band. I didnt follow them. Their TV spot made it worse, IMO.

Anyway RIP.....

Goofy yes, but it was goofy times back then. I did like a lot of their music even though it was written by others. They were the first to admit they were a "manufactured" group.

ps: You should totally see the film Head if you have never seen it. It's quite funny and a complete rip on being a prefab band. It even features their original music, which is pretty cool.

Also doesn't hurt that Frank Zappa is in it and it was co-written by Jack Nicholson.

He had chest pain last evening and waited until today to go to the hospital. Arrived too late after start of pain to receive clot-busting meds.

I have had heart pangs in the past but passed a stress test with flyng colors. Still get the heart pangs but heck, I'm not going to the doctor. What the hey, you live, you die!

The Monkees were a funn group. Even though they were a canned group, I still enjoyed them.

Good clean fun without the racial slurs and profanity of today's "music", I mean screaming. :fire:

I liked the Monkee's music...and I still do when it comes on the radio. I was about 20 years old when the Monkees hit the Radio and TV and I thought they were all pretty good comedians modeled a bit like the Marx Brothers.

Considering that the Monkees were one of the biggest, most popular groups of that time, they obviously had musical talent that fit those times.

Sorry to hear that Davey Jones died. I understand he was a genuine good guy...and 66 is not very old.

...Rich
