I wrote a msg back in March when weather was cold. Now that the weather is getting cold again the idle problem on this 01 sport trac is back and only getting worse. At start up it will run rough and try to stall. If the accellerator is held on for 30 sec. to 2 minutes the problem completely goes away. I have looked for the infamous cracked elbow and dont see any reasons for the problem. As a matter fact I cannot even see the elbow where it is pictured. This is a 4.0 SOHC vin E vehicle. I have tried a new IAC valve, upstream O2 sensor, DPFE sensor, and everything else I can think of. Any help would be much appreciated. One other thing I had found in the beginning was excessively high fuel pressure. I replaced the fuel pump module and pressure returned to specification. HELP HELP HELP

Brian, You may not have the job 2 motor that has that elbow, But you can still have a vacuum leak...

Most vacuum leaks effect the engine when it is cold and not warm..

The other thing is IF you have a job 1 ST with the round tube intake and the oil fill on the Drivers side, That engine was known for cracking intake manifolds and having bad coolant Temp sensors...

The other thing is to clean the MAF meter...

These are the most common, I am sure others with chime in with other solutions..

Todd's right search all over for a vacuum leak first.
