I'm new to the Sport Trac, so i'm not sure of my RPM. I have a 2001 Sport Trac 4L, 2WD, original tires/wheels, bought it used. On the highway at 80mph my RPM is 3000. is that correct it seems high to me. My wife has a 2003 Explorer with the same set up and at 80 mph the RPM is only 2100. What do you guys think?

I Know at 65 my st is around 2200 RPM.... So 3000 at 65 sounds right....

IF you have the 4:11 rear end or the 3:73 rear with 15 inch tires your RPMS can be high...

I believe the explorer only has 3:55 gears so that can do it right there...

Yep. 80mph = 3000rpms for me also. Scary knowing how much u are eating as ur drive huh? And I have the 4:11 rear diff.

2005 here, @ 70 m.p.h., my tach is at about 2300 w/ 3:72 rear end.

P.S.... 16 inch wheels:)

Hey guys thanks for the education. It has 16" Ford rims w/ Goodyears so i guess they are std. Is there any way of figuring out what the gear ratio is.

Also does anyone have any ideas on knocking that RPM down on the highway?

Dirt

Look on the drivers door or door jam.

Code Axle

42 — 4.10 non-limited slip
