Ford Ranger Wins 2013 International Pick-Up of the Year Award
Gets More Points Than Second, Third Runners-Up Combined

As if to rub further salt in the wounds of U.S. fans of the T6 Ford Ranger, Ford's acclaimed midsizer has just racked up another award in the form of the 2013 International Pick-Up Award. The award was presented at the Fleet Transport Expo 12 event in Dublin, Ireland. The Ranger was such an overwhelming favorite among the judges that it was awarded more total points than the second-place Isuzu D-Max and third-place Volkswagen Amarok combined.
The Ranger was selected for its capable performance on- and off-road, its broad selection of cab and bed options, and the availability of two Duratorq turbodiesel engines. The U.S. won't be getting the new Ranger any time soon, if ever, but the larger of the Ranger's two available engines, the 3.2-liter five-cylinder Duratorq diesel, is expected to be offered under the hood of the U.S.-spec Transit. The engine currently produces around 200 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque in the Ranger.
The Ranger's award comes on top of the Transit Custom winning the 2013 International Van of the Year award. The 2012 Ford F-150 also won the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award as well.
