Anybody who has used a Rug Doctor that you can rent at stores-

How do they work and how long does it take the carpet to dry after you are done?

We had very minor but big pet stains in our house. It worked great. Make sure you get the Wide Track and read the directions before using. Total dry was about 1 hour. Walkable dry about 30 minutes. Good Luck.

I don't think IT was a rug Dr I rented but the big ones with the separate tanks and large front vacuum work great. Don't soak the rug and it does dry quickly....

I know here they get about 30 cents a square foot to clean your carpets So next time I will have some one do it.... I only have about $200.00 bucks of work...

I use a pro too. Much better job and not a whole lot more expensive.

Rug Doctor works somewhat, but there isn't really a compelling reason to use it when you can get a much better job for just a few bucks more. My house would take about 3-4 hours with a Rug Doctor, but the pro can get-r-done in about 30 minutes.

I've used these guys with great success:

I think the rug doctor should be good enough this time around. The carpet is only 6 months old, it just has spilled baby formula and spit-up from my 11 month old twins. Just wanted to clean mainly the living room where they hang out and have been spilling things for several months now. Thanks for the replies

We have light tan carpets in our downstairs family and living rooms and most people that see them think they are brand new. They are over 8 years old.

The key:

- We rarely wear shoes in the house.

- We own a Hoover steam vac that we use once or twice a year and on any big spots as needed.

- We hit other spills right away with a rug cleaner.

- We vacuum at least 3 times a week with a good Hoover vacuum cleaner.

I recommend getting your own steam vac. They aren't that expensive. Sure, they aren't as industrial strength as those you rent or that the pros use, but use as I explained above and it will serve you well for many, many years.
