Read this on ESPN. Heard of it since it was in Pa, but thought it's a good article write up on espn.com, so I thought I'd share. Good to hear that kids can overcome crap like this.

Yeah that was big news last summer around here. Pennridge is our school district; Perkasie the town next to us that holds the high school; and Detwiler a common name in these parts.

A friend of mine was almost in a situation like that.
His mom had a .45 pointed at her head when Don came into the room. His step father then pointed the gun at him and was ready to squeeze the trigger. Don grabed the gun and took it away from his step father. His mom called the police and his step father was sent to jail.
It was a close call, but he saved his mothers life, along with his own.
His step dad is serving something like 10 years in prison for it. His mother did divorce him.
