Well I was driving on the Thruway yesterday minding my own business when the semi in front of me kicked up a fairly large stone and lodged it very nicely into my windshiled. I was taking my mother out for lunch when this happened, I thought her jaw was going to fall off when she heard the words that came out of my mouth  So I was pissed, we get to where we are going and she gets out and pulls the rock out of the glass and it spiderwebs almost instantly  Turns out though there is not deductible on my insurance for glass coverage so the guys will be out to my house on Friday to replace the windshield! Until Friday though I have to drive around with the Trac looking like S*@T. Oh well, what can you do???? I just had to vent thanks for listening! - Heather

Most insurance companies give full glass coverage. It was very unlucky that your windshield got hit. Heather, on the bright side, it was lucky no one got hurt. This way you will have a brand new windshield with no pit marks and no wiper blade scratches.

Sorry to here that.... atleast you dont have to pay a deductible to get it done.

2yrs ago something similar happen to me, but my windshield didn't spiderweb

Heather,

I know how you feel. I have so many chips on my windshield from driving on the LIE (Long Island Expressway) everyday. Between the trucks and all the garbage on the road it is impossible to avoid. I am waiting for them to get worse before I get a repair. At least you had full glass coverage and it will be good as new soon. :D

George

Could have been much worse, a lot of road debris gets kicked up off the road around here and slammed into cars....

A new windshield and say 3 hail Marys and you'll be good to go

I had a rock kicked into my windshield a couple of weeks ago, but it left a little mark that was fully covered by my insurance company (they did a glass repair job on it...)

Funny thing is, when I called the insurance company, they asked if I got the license plate number of the vehicle that tossed the rock. You know, the first words out of my mouth were !@#$%, and the last thing I was thinking was "get that place number!".

Sorry about the rock Heather. I just flipped 100,000 miles the other day and 3 miles after that, WHACK I got a rock on the windshield too. I did just what you did and said every 4-letter word in the book. My mom wasn't in the car though, LOL. I am glad everything is ok and nobody was hurt.

as george mentioned i drive the same route . there are many sand trucks that " leak " sand out of the bed and as your driving , it is like you are being sand blasted. not only is my windshield a mess but the front of my truck including the lights are all pitted.

well, i would wait to after the winter for a replacement

try traveling the Alaska highway regularly, even with it now being paved you expect min 1 windshield ayear may be more,I once lost 6 windows when just 1 semi went passed, lost frontr & all side windows

When we had Progressive insurance, our policy had a glass deduction of $50, we switched to 21st insurance, and the glass is now covered under the comprehensive, that is $500, so it's cheaper to replace it on our own...

BTW, we saved money by switching, but still doesn't make me feel much better...

I know that ohh to well... As Gary and George said, the LIE is a good place for it...

Mine on the other hand was a cop passing people in and out of the HOV lane and kicked up a nice rock that took out mine.... I called my insurance and they said "
Don't even think about calling the police to report the cop car that did it, and we will replace it ...
"

Go figure...
