I was thinking of putting in a dvd screen into the back of the center console, where the controls for the radio and vent are. What are your opinions and if you've done this before or something similar let me know.

I haven't done so nor have I seen anyone else do it either but, I would think you'd need to not only remove the stereo controls but nix the vent also. At least during the cold months when it's cold and heat it diverted to the rear vent. Most likely overheat the screen.

Rather than that route though, I think I'd go for headrest monitors. Can fit (2) 7-9" monitors in the headrests compared to I'm guessing (1) 4-5" in the console.

I've seen headrests with monitors already installed for around $200-300

I haven't seen any headrest monitors that are the same fabric and don't want to cut the headrests

I believe JKII has one, but then again he has a custom center console, but it should be close to the same dimensions to fit between the seats. I wanted to do one and I figured out i could barely fit a 7" if i remember right. I would have to sqeeze it in close. it also had to be just the rigth screen. I think JKII had a fahrenhiet screen, the trick is to find a screen that is just that by itself, screens with buttons and all take up extra room.

Yep pretty much what Boodro said. Its sort of a custom console. The base of it actually the lower part of the stock console. It holds a 8 inch screen. You might be able to fit a 6.5 inch screen with some work to make it look good.

I did it in a '99 Explorer with a small Pioneer monitor. I put it where the audio controls were. It was a horrendous bitch and not worth it.
