OK so I did a Seafoam treatment on our 06 Escape for the first time and had great results, went into the booster line, gas tank and into the oil right b4 a change! Gonna do it on my 04 ST soon. How often it is recomended using this stuff, I know in the oil right B4 every oil change but how about into the gas and thru the booster vacuum hose? :0)

that would be an indication that things are fairly clean. You can run some seafoam in the gas tank 1-2 times a year and should be good. some believe it is harmful to seals and such and advise against using it. No real schedule on using it, just whenever you think or feel the the vehicle is not performing as it normally does.

Everyone here does realize that the amount of smoke that comes out of the exhaust while doing this is no indication of how clean or dirty things are

I have never used Seafoam in my engine or gasoline.

I just drive it and it keeps running.

l1tech,

ok, if the lack of smoke out the exhaust is no indication of anything, what does a LOT of smoke out the exhaust indicate, if anything?

Nothing. If you introduce any kind of oil into a cylinder and it ignites you are going to have smoke and the main ingredient of Seafoam is petroleum based so......

My uncle retired from chevron research. He told me the best thing to a carbon free motor is. Dont buy the same fuel all the time. Every brand has different detergent formula's. Also be sure and get some highway miles.

His research involved motor inspection after using different fuels, oils and additives. They would spec motors as they built them. Some ran on stands. Some were installed in taxi's and PD cars. They would do teardowns and reinspect the wear.

He said, all oil additives are useless. When he retired the best oil they had tested was Red-Line. Royal purple wasnt on the common market yet. His opinion of fuel additives were, they are over used and very rare, when fuel injection cleaning is necesary.

If I have a cylinder that is heavily carboned up I will run some water through the engine....steam works wonders at breaking the carbon up.
