I'm gonna be selling my old 6-disc head unit I pulled out and I heard I would need this "Securing Bracket" to ship it. Also read that it will not work right if shipped without it. I searched online to find nothing on it but I have seen pictures of the 6-disc with it on. So whats the deal? :)

They are all but impossible to come by. Ford does sell them but they can not find the part number to actually make the sale. I have one. I let members use it here at the site. I charge them money, they use it, they return it, I return most of their money. Pretty much hold $5.00 due to shipping and what not...

Ions,

This bracket is inserted into the radio to protect the CD mechanism from being damaged while in shipment.

Most people fill the changer with 6 blank disc's, but that doesn't allways work...

ions,

The problem is that when the CD changer is turned upside-down, the CD transport mechanism can fall of the mounts. It's not designed to be inverted...go figure:rolleyes:

I guess Ford figured that nobody would drive their trucks upside-dwon. :D

Seriously, the package is most likely to be turned upside-down while being shipped, thus the bracket is needed or it will cost $$ to get the CD transport mechanism remounted which is not a do-it-yourself job.
