Replaced my serpentine belt today. It wasn't complicated, and it was handy that there was a diagram right printed right there in front of me when I open the hood, showing how to thread the belt through the pulleys.



But wow, using a regular-size 3/8" ratchet wrench to pivot the tensioner made me feel like a 98-pound weakling who got sand kicked in his face at the beach. I wish I had a longer handled 3/8" wrench. Or an adaptor so that I could use my 1/2" wrench. That would have made it easier.



I did it while lying on the ground below the truck -- I wonder if there's a better way.
 
I put a 2 foot pipe on the end of the ratchet for leverage and had my wife pivot the tensioner while I put the belt on. I guess I could've done it myself but I was having a hard time slipping it over the alternator pulley. Having both hands free made it a whole lot easier.
