Here's an off topic question.....

Anyone ever try those cable signal boosters? I have 2 digital cable boxes, 2 TV's without digital, and high speed internet and sometimes I get pixelating on the digital channels. I am going to switch the old splitters and look hard at the cables, but has anyone heard of these signal amps actually working????

Thanks!

You prpbably don't need a signal booster. Your cable company may be experiencing some signal problems. YOu should not have to buy any extra equipment, your cable company is responsible for your signal quality and they should fix it.

I had the same problem.

The company came here and changed the connectors to a new style, change the splitters and I re ran one of the older lines that ran outside the house.

All works perfect now...

Remember if you have a junk signal and amplify junk your only going to get junk..

In south FL my adelphia service they had to use a signal booster. All premium , HD and video on demand channels didn't even come up. It was crazy as soon as they plugged in the signal booster all the cranny stations were clear and the stations that didnt even come in were on. I know you must use the correct kind of splitter also. If they do not have the right power you will have problems. In my case correct splitters and the signal booster was a must for 2 digital boxes, 1 HD box and internet. good luck

Also, a certain amount of pixilation and mosaicing is normal in a digital signal, but it should be very infrequent and very momentary when it happens. If you have a true cabling problem, digital signals will typically fail dramatically. I suggest you contact your cable company first, Mike.

I had this problem in the room I wanted HD and internet in. It was the longest run in the house. I changed the wiring from RG59 to RG6 (a little thicker) and everything works great now. I do get pixilation with the digital signal sometimes but I thought it was pretty normal.

Your cable company should fix it though.

What are your cable modem signal levels? (Mine are in parenthesis below and are not too bad considering I live at the edge of town in a house wired with RG-59, three splitters, and five TVs, and am about 250 feet from the pole.)

Downstream signal-to-noise ratio? (36 dB)

Downstream power level? (-7 dB)

Upstream power level? (47 dBmV)
