sirius and ST radio

I have sirius radio and was wondering if the ST stock radio has an input for the Sirius instead of putting off the low FM band.



I guess an aux input or something like that is need....do I have one?

You can get an FM modulator that will plug directly into your antenna though so the low FM band tuning will be very good.

I have xm and a delphi roady 2. I tried the fm modulator and found the quality to be horrible, or atleast not any better than the wireless transmission. I took the thing back. It may be better for you though, since it will be made by a different company, etc. I think the best way to go is to buy the aux adapter for the stock radio, crutchfield has it, someone has posted about it before (I'll try to search)... anyway, I believe it plugs in where you would add a cd changer, and makes you able to hook up the radio through the line out part of your satellite radio. The quality would be the best that way, I would think. I'll try to find the post and/or link to that part from crutchfield and post it on here for you... hope this helps.



Edit: the fm modulator also made my normal FM stations worse.....

I currently have the Sirius Plug-N-Play unit in my ST which I had installed by Circuit City when I bought it. They hooked it up through an FM modulator, but that would actually interfer with my local radio stations where I would be unable to recieve them clearly. So to fix the problem, the Circuit City techs had to install a switch to turn the modulator off when the Sirius unit was not being used. Even after all that, the music level was very low when I used the Sirius radio, almost to the point that I had to turn the volume of the radio up to "max" in order to hear the music over the regular road noise which I didn't like at all. My fix for that problem was to disconnect the FM modulator and use the tape adaptor that came with the Sirius unit to play it through the tape deck. Now the music level is actually about twice as loud when listening to Sirius as it is when listening to the standard radio. I know in the long run I wound up paying for an FM modulator which I do not use, but the tape deck adapter is a thousand times better than the modulator and besides, now I actually found a use for the tape deck of my radio.

The Sportster unit you have may be different than the Kenwood Plug-N-Play unit I have. Anyhow, my unit came with a tape deck adaptor that looked like a cassette tape with a wire attached to it. The wire plugs into the back of the docking cradle in the same spot where the FM modulator would plug in and ,of course, the cassette tape would go into the tape deck. I think you can buy these at places like Radio Shack, but I'm not positive. Hope this helps.
