Hello everyone, I had a question about waterproofing my 3rd brake light after the installation of a Sirius radio antenna. I removed the two screws holding the brake light on, then fed the cable through the hole into the interior of the truck. When I screwed it back on, the 3rd brake light is hard plastic so it doesn't mold around the thin wire, and there is a bit of clearance between the brake light and the truck, just enough for rain to get into just a bit. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas for waterproofing this without making it look too ghetto and raggedy. I'd like to be able to run my antenna thru here as it is extremely convenient. Any help?!

Oh it's a 2005 by the way. Everything stock to my knowledge, got it from Carmax about a year ago.

i made a small notch in the 3rd brake light and then siliconed the notch where the wire goes through in place. you cant even tell

small notch and silicon, I didn't even think of something that simple. :) Any special kind of silicon? A non-adhesive type I assume? I don't want to negatively affect resale by gluing some crap to the body of my truck accidentally :)

just don't run it there....

I ran mine out the front of the truck, No messing with the light and chancing a leak..

I made a small notch and a drop of silicone. Only had problems when I sold the ST after I took out the XM, but for 15 bucks I bought the guy a new light.

On my 07 there is already a notch at the top of the housing, plus a little channel around the light to route a small wire. I put the wire out the bottom of the light, around it inside the little channel and then out the small factory notch at the top. Has worked like a champ so far...

I placed mine on top of my dash just inside the "change holder" or whatever you call it. It's right behind the radio bezel slightly angled forward because of the curve, you cant even see it when sitting in your seat. I have no problems with reception at all. The wire conveniently runs directly behind the radio bezel, no holes or drilling involved. I had it mounted in front of the change holder close to the windshield at first, I experienced some reception problems close to the glass.

same as big d for me. I cut a notch and used silicone. I put a bead all the way across the top, I is clear and you can not see it unless you are really looking.

Adam,

I had mine thru the 3rd Brakelight years ago and had all kinds of issues with water. Nothing worked to seal it.

Had to move the antenna to the front just above the top of the windshield near the driver side door.

Replaced the third brake light and no water issues thru the 3rd brake light.

If you want I can post pictures of where I moved the antenna's to.
