Anyone having reception issues on 07 ST w/ sirius factory install? Seems that it cuts in and out more than my old car. Especially in heavy tree areas. My old one didn't. Only went out under over-passes. Any input?

mine works just fine... on another note, i was told i get 2 months free.... do you know if sirus send you a re-newal letter?

TIA:)

actually I just called Sirius ten minutes ago. My radio came with Sirius activated already (demo with only about half the stations.) When I called. they said I get 6 months full service (all stations) free with the vehicle. Then I will activate it per my regular account. Great deal since y last Sirius radio broke right after I paid for a year. They allowed me to "suspend my account" until I activated my new one. After the six months that is.

We had no issues with the sat in CA, But i know an 07 owner and he says it cuts in and out like crazy here on LI...

I'm currently using a Sirius receiver connected to the same antenna that I used for XM. I've noticed alot more 'drop-outs' than I ever had with XM. I'm thinking that I should've stayed with XM.

I've had Sirius, via an FM modulator, for almost 2 years. The only time mine cuts out is when I go under certain under passes and some parking garages.

I have XM in 3 of the vehicles that I drive. One is a factory system, the other two are aftermarket. All 3 of them drop out in the same places every day. Usually in heavily wooded areas is where the problem is. With XM you need a mostly clear view of the southern sky where thier satellites stay, but with Sirius since thier sats move around, reception should be better...

As a communications technichian, you really have no idea how either system works.

If sirius is that much better explain their outdated compression format, the donuts that land repeaters create, and how more is not always better.

The 3 satellite system that people think is so superior because of the number is actually worse, if you look at the satellite paths, every 8 hours 2 satellites cross focused on the exact spot in the midwest. That makes for crappy coast coverage as everyone on either shore knows....And what about their new super satellite their launching you ask?? That satellite is to replace the satellite space they currently lease from comcast to feed their land repeaters. This feed comes from a geostationary orbit satellite (just like XM's), ever try to get 400 ground repeaters to latch on to the signal of 3 moving targets that constantly switch on and off???

While Sirius does have good programming their technology is FAR FROM SUPERIOR to XM. Make sure you know all the facts before you type...

Thanks for the info.. Let's not get off the topic here. It really doesn't who has what orbiting this planet, as long as there **** works. I personally own Sirius not for the system they use, but for the programming content. (Howard Stern, Octane, Court Radio, Shade 45, better sports, etc.) IMO of course. The only thing I like about XM is the stock. Can't say I love my Sirius stock right now. But I will keep buying it anyway. Who knows, I'm sure Sirius's satelite system and stock prices will one day be as good as XM's. And I'll be getting more than just good programming when that happens. :D
