My very young daughter pee'd in the backseat of my 04 Trac on our way back from LA. Needless to say I was pissed (no pun intended). Anyways, I've tried steam cleaning, Febreeze, and steam cleaning again and still when the car heats up and the windows are up it smells to high heaven. What can get rid of that awful smell, short of replacing the seat anyways. Thanks.

Vinegar is pretty good at eliminating odors. It's odor (vinegar) goes away pretty fast.

You can do a few things that will help.

White vinegar oaks up urine pretty well. On a carpet, you would soak a towel or a rag with the White Vinegar and set it right on the spot. It absorbs the urine/small pretty good.

You can also put a box of Arm and Hammer Baking Powder under the seat. Open the top of the box and put it somewhere it won't fall over and spill. It soaks up odors.

I know there is a product out there specific for this, just don't recall the item...

Arm and Hammer, yeah, they also have a box made for the 'fridge/freezer that has 'breathable' sides, no spill.

Try Woolite PETSTAIN & ODER remover (available in super markets), Four Paws pet stain & odor remover( available in pet stores) or similar products. They contain enzymes that attack the cause of the order. They are not just scented liquids. These products were made specifically to remove urine and other pet smells from frabrics. You have to let the liquid penetrate down to the cushion to reach the cause of the odor. I hope this helps. These products work great in the home and should work in a Trac.

Another good example of why Leather is worth the price.

My niece did this very thing. The piss ran down to the floor. Cleanup was simple. No odor.

Good luck with your deodorizing.

Asked her twice if she had to go, of course she said no. And yeah she was in her booster seat, but that didn't slow the runoff. I'll try the vinegar and see what happens, can't smell any worse. Thanks for all the replies.

buy my nice new seats on ebay...the back seats are like brand new.

No pee smell either

If you were to put a dead skunk in the back seat for a month or two, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to smell the pee before too long... :D

Big$ed32, I would go with the pet stain/smell remover. I used to have a dog that had incontinence and she would let loose while she was asleep and never know it (old age). On top of that, the rental house that we moved into 2 1/2 yrs ago smelled to high heaven of dirty dog. You could tell that the previous tenent never washed her dog and shampooing the carpet didn't get rid of it either. I used a product called Nature's Miracle to get rid of the smell in both cases. It's not cheap @ $25/gal, but IMO nothing else works better although I didn't know about the vinegar solution. I did try the cheaper $10/gal stuff too, but it didn't work nearly as well. Soak the area well and keep it damp as long as possible and it will be gone before you know it.
