Thermostats are not like a switch, a 192 will start opening around 182. During your casual Sunday afternoon drive it will only be about half open and you will probably be at 187-188. Ideally you want the coolant to trickle through the radiator so it can make the heat exchange. Mine, according to my reader, runs at 189(with 192 thermostat) in the summer with A/C on here in Atlanta. You never want the coolant to go over 225 or you’ll be replacing the transmission before you’ll boil over at 250. I have the 16lb but I also run 60/40 coolant to water.
