Dumby me left 2 12yr olds in the truck for a quick run into the store and came back out to a soda explosion and them with the oh crap look on there faces. I had soda in my leather front seats, console, center dash and on the steering wheel. Now my steering wheel volume and preset buttons are sticking. Can the controls be easily removed so I can attempt to clean them?

Get spray contact clean from Radio Shack.

The stuff evaporates at such a low temp that when it hits the contacts (and the soda in your case) that it normally will do a pretty good job.

Read the can details as some of the various types can harm plastic.

I solved this problem 30 years ago when I made this rule: No sugared pop in my vehicle; diet only.

that why i do not allow food, open drinks cigarettes, and dirty people in my car lol, my friends don't like my rules but hey i a have a very clean ride.

Like Joe said, the contact cleaner works really well. Is using scotchguard possible? Try the link below, they have a small pop-up container with interior cleaner wipes. Its pretty handy for just such occasions. I think its like $10. Just be careful on the leather, it may remove some of the dye if you rub too hard/long. Bob

Yeah, when my kids were, well, kids, i was the a**hole parent that did not allow liquids other than water and only dry food items that could be vacuumed easily. I don't like cleaning up someone elses messes and I like a clean car. It amazes me to see how most people treat their cars that cost $20, $30 or even $50,000.

At work we work on Ford Windstars for the rear axel and subframe recall, and its disgusting to see what the insides of some of those vans look like. There is food in there from when they were dropped off in july. During the end of summer, there were some cockroaches in some of the minivans, and the carpeting is very miscolored in some of them because of the dirt / food / poo / stains / god knows what.
