First off, I would recommend this on any trac if your around or near 60K miles. My fluid was milky and a light chocolate brown. Water was in the fluid and was actually hard to pump out. Pumping out was a totally different situation. I not small man, but crawling under and getting the tube in past the gear was a challenge. I was able to remove about a quart and a two thirds. I filled it with Valvoline Synpower synthetic 75w-90 since it was on sale for 4.99 a bottle verse 10 to 13 per bottle for mobil or amsoil. Overall, the only thing I noticed was the slight hum was gone at high speeds. Did the fluid have something to do with it? Not totally sure. I guess its a wait and see.

I really don't know but having water in the fluid may cause aeration and/or cavitation which may have caused the hum that you noticed.
