Hey guys, its been great, reading and posting on the boards here, and I certainly had a love affair with my trac BUT, after my engine blow up, and my tranny now about to kick the dust at 100k miles, i decided to sell and i bought a 2007 FJ Cruiser TRD Limited Edition. I appreciate all your guys' help with maintenance and whatnot, and maybe ill stick around and post still, but i'll be trying to get you all to come over to "the light" on Toyota's team, they sure make one hell of a 4x4.

Good luck with the Toyota GreekSTer.

If only the US automakers, it's employees and advocates didn't have their heads so far up their a$$e$ they would recognize that in order to save themselves they need to focus their efforts on putting out a more appealing product and stop wasting time and energy with the guilt trips over what people buy.

Blaming people and belittling them for not buying your product isn't a very good business model.

I'm jealous, I really like the FJ. Good luck with it. Any plans? There are already plenty of aftermarket parts for it. Now time to take that thing off road and get it dirty.

If buying a Toyota is a nail in the coffin, Ford/GM/Chrysler shouldn't have built themselves a coffin in the first place.

Enjoy the Cruiser. I may be buying one when I get back from the US. I definitely want a 4X4, and I'd rather have a Ford, but the maintenance issues just scare the heck out of me when I think of all the crap Ford put me through on my two STs.

Nelson-

Outside of a Ranger what 4x4 Ford would you get? The ST can't really 'do' proper 4x4 stuff (07+, 01-05 could), and everything else is just too big to really do all but open trail stuff. Which is fun, but I prefer the more technical stuff, not the 'run and gun' 4x4 stuff.

Exactly, Tiger. Ford has eliminated all the options. The original ST could be lifted and was pretty capable offroad. They planned a new Bronco, but then scratched that in one of their first "Bold Moves". I could get a Ford Escape I suppose, but I think those are all wheel drive, not 4X4. :(

Caymen, check your coffee maker, TV, DVD player, stereo equipment.....i bet most of those were probably built over seas.

TJR, Mudflap and Tiger, Thanks. I purchased on Friday, and only trailed once so far in Half Moon Bay, CA and i loved it. The TRD edition comes fully equiped and ready for 4x4. The difference in Control, stability and power was night and day difference to my '02 Trac.

Nelson, Ford may have more maintenance issues in terms of numbers however you are going to pay more for each issue you have with the toyota. However, toyota has far fewer issues :) and is much easier to sell at nice prices in the secondary market.

I plan to only do a TRD Intake for now. I purchased the extended warranty so i dont want to do much to void it at this point. I figure if anything goes wrong ill just swap out the TRD intake with the stock one... :) But im definitely going to tint the side windows to match the privacy class and then ill do the lightest tint in the front to block out those harmfull UV rays. It should look sweet when its done since its already black on black...............i hate that white hood they do on the base models.

GreekSTer, Have fun with the FJ, and keep us posted on the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. :D

Tom, Did you look on the sticker as to where the ST was made. If memory serves me correctly the tranny is made in France. Don't recall where the rest of the parts are made.

ST engines are made in Germany. I'd say the body parts are made throughout the World.

The shocks are made by monkeys in The Amazon jungle, the same ones that designed the transmission throttle body.

When will you be getting back, Nelson? Probably by that time the Explorer will have been moved to a car based chassis, and who knows if the Ranger will even still be around.

Greekster, congrats on your new ride! The last time I checked (a few seconds ago) you had the rite to spend your money as you see fit just like the rest of us. Personaly, I don't care if your vehicle was made in Bum *** Egypt, as long as your happy i'm happy. :D

Hopefully your FJ was produced in Japan. Starting to read some lower quailty issues with the Toyotas made in the US. As if that would surprise anyone...

And I done seen the light, & entered! Subaru, made in Japan with 99% Japanese parts. I think the 1% non-Japanese part(s) was the fluids.

I still believe ford has a winner with the Mustang, even though sales of it have plunged during the past 2 months.

... well, there goes another perfectly good Chips Ahoy cookie all over the keyboard.

Enjoy your FJ. I'm enjoying mine ('07 Black Cherry) :D. I too moved from an 02 ST. Really enjoyed it as well.

Nice choice! I have one too as well as a huge list of mods that I sell for the FJ.

We tinted the windows to match the factory side window tints. 15% I believe. Not legal in WA but who cares. The tuner car is going to get pulled over before I do for illegal window tint.

And, Tom-tell Ford to build something that even comes close to the FJ and I will buy it!
