I just picked up my new 2007 on Monday. Yesterday while underneath I noticed that the spare was a Goodyear while the other 4 are Michelins. Also the spare was a 245/65/17 while the other 4 are 235/65/18. Anyone else had this issue?

Thursday: Thanks for your inputs. The dealer, once aware of the problem, has orderd another Michelin.

Bill,

My 2007 Limited has Michelin Tires and the spare is also a Michelin. All 5 tires are 235/65/18.

Now my 1994 Ranger (which I just sold) had a different size spare than the other 4 tires but I believe the height was the same.

Strange your Trac has different size tire. Mine is an early production (Job 1?) 2007 if that makes a difference.

You have a dumba** dealer. Take it back and have them either match the 4 with with the spare or or the spare with the other 4. The changed out the rims at the dealer and then didn't do the spare.;)

My 07 is the same way. Michelins on it and goodyear spare.

This is normal for newly produced Limited's and there was a post on here awhile back about it.......lots don't have matching spares.

The dealer did not have anything to do with it.

Yes, but the spare is 1/2 inch taller than the other tires. To begin with, you can't properly rotate your tires b/c one's a different brand and the wrong size, and if you were to use it as a spare, you risk breaking something.

My owners manual actually addresses the issue of the spare "possibly" being a different size than what's on the vehicle.

List spare tires...three types.

Dissimilar with label

Dissimilar without label

The one on my 07 Limited is considered a "dissimilar without label" as are most of the newly produced 07 Limited's.

Another BOLD move by Ford.

I guess those that wanted a full size spare and actually rotate that in and out with the other 4 tires are SOL.

Way to go Ford!

Time for Ford to start producing vacuum cleaners. Would be their first product that doesn't suck!

My '07 Limited has the goodyear spare in a different size too. Not only that, but the wheel is an ugly steel wheel.

Jeep puts the same alloy wheel and the same type of tire for their spares, so you can rotate them and change them and leave them on permanently, etc.

I guess it would be too hard for Ford to put the same type of wheel and tire for a spare.:angry::angry:

You cant rotate the tires, But the 1/2 inch should not matter on the 07 due to the lack of limited slip.... you just run the spider gears a little....

Ford will need a protective casing like Jeep, then. Have you ever pulled a steel spare after it has been underneath for 3 or 4 northeastern winters? The rim looks like hell.

I think if you have aluminum wheels the spare is a steel wheel anyway. So if you want to rotate the spare, you're going to have to pay to break down and remount two wheels.

Exactly. Did the dealer also order you and additional aluminum wheel to put that tire on?
