SportTrac died

Went home for lunch with no problems. After lunch went out and tried to start the sporttrac.

No iginition. The anti-teft light flashed and beeped a couple of times. There was some very strange pops and "static noise" until I removed the key from the iginition. I disconnected the battery. Reconnected aned tried again. No help. I disconnected the battery again and came back to work in my wife's car. Any ideas. Dead battery, alternator, etc?

Probably a internal short in the battery. It goes dead under a load.

Check the negative battery cable. If you have a chip installed remove it.

have alarm? if so, then set it and unset it.
