Starting issue

Hi there, Been awhile.
2005 sport trac XLT. Turn the key and everything lights as normal but no starter. Move the steering wheel to lowest tilt position and it starts 90% of the time. Move the tilt up and down again at it starts the other 10% of time. Help please.

There is a known issue with the multi function switch (MFS) connector wiring being too short from the factory. Repair involved removing the steering column cover and modifying or replacing the connector. This may only apply to earlier build 2001-05 Sport Tracs. Original post is gone but I'll search for other threads.
