step rails question

I am going to remove and refinish my factory step rails. My question is: does anyone know how the rubber anti-slip pads are attached? I don't want to destroy them as they seem reusable when I am finished. Thanks, Jim :banana:

They just pop right off and right back on. Put a flat screw driver under an edge and apple even pressure.

How do you like the look of the truck without them? I removed mine after purchase when I realized that one was bent/crooked.
